Paul Oman, northwestern Wisconsin native, recently earned international acclaim as a watercolor finalist in the Fine Art Views Internation Painting Competition (2010 & 2013). Passionate about the visual arts, Paul paints to capture and share a feeling through the eye-catching use of light and shadow.
Paulís interest in the fine arts began at an early age when, in 1979, he was honored as the Wisconsin elementary youth selected to present an original watercolor painting to the governor at the State Capitol for Youth Art Month. From this point forward he has been an active participant in the Wisconsin and Minnesota Watercolor Societies, earned many awards, taught many workshops, and more importantly touched many lives with his expressive use of watercolor and mural art painting events.
Paul has served as a teacher and pastor. He now works full-time as a freelance artist, working across church denominations with congregations, colleges, seminaries, schools, camps, assemblies, retreats, conventions and more. Painting during worship services or conventions is most often what Paul does, but also works with other organizations to paint their stories and inspire audiences. He collaborates with school districts to create anti-bullying presentations with are interactive and involve the arts. Paul provides school presentations as an illustrated storyteller, engaging class or all-school assemblies. Paul's hope is to inspire people of all ages through the story he paints, whether it be the Biblical story or other stories, brought to view as he paints larger-than-life sized murals before live audiences.
