PURPOSE STATEMENT: My gift to others is to inspire life-changing emotion by sharing visual experiences through my painting, hoping to educate and create passion.
Paul Oman, northwestern Wisconsin native and accomplished watercolorist, was most recently awarded Outstanding Watercolor Finalist in the February 2010 Fine Art Views International Painting Competition of over 600 entries for his work titled “Mexico City Morning.” Passionate about the visual arts, Paul paints to capture and share a feeling through the eye-catching use of light and shadow.
Paul’s interest in the fine arts began at an early age when, in 1979, he was honored as the Wisconsin elementary youth selected to present an original watercolor painting to the governor at the State Capitol for Youth Art Month. From this point forward he has been an active participant in the Wisconsin and Minnesota Watercolor Societies, earned many awards, taught many workshops, and more importantly touched many lives with his expressive use of watercolor.
With degrees in science education from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls and the University of Minnesota, Paul taught science for several years before attending Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is currently serving as Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Birchwood, Wisconsin where he integrates the arts and theology while painting larger-than-life sized murals during worship.
