PURPOSE STATEMENT: My gift to others is to inspire life-changing emotion by sharing visual experiences through my painting.
"DRAWN TO THE WORD" PURPOSE STATEMENT: My hope is to use mural art to touch lives with the Biblical story and inspire faith.
Paul Oman, northwestern Wisconsin native, recently earned international acclaim as a watercolorist. Passionate about the visual arts, Paul paints to capture and share a feeling through the eye-catching use of light and shadow.
Paul’s interest in the fine arts began at an early age when, in 1979, he was honored as the Wisconsin elementary youth selected to present an original watercolor painting to the governor at the State Capitol for Youth Art Month. From this point forward he has been an active participant in the Wisconsin and Minnesota Watercolor Societies, earned many awards, taught many workshops, and more importantly touched many lives with his expressive use of watercolor and mural art painting events.
With degrees in education from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls and the University of Minnesota, Paul taught for several years before attending Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He served as Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Birchwood, Wisconsin from 2003-11, where he integrated the arts with theology. Paul now works with congregations, colleges, seminaries, camps, assemblies, retreats and conventions by invitation to touch lives with the Biblical story brought to view as he paints larger-than-life sized murals during worship and other events.
